Plant Spirit Medicine

Plant Spirit Medicine is a simple yet profound form of healing in which the spirits of plants bestow their healing medicines to the spirit of a person.   A Plant Spirit Medicine healer connects a person with the plant spirit that best fulfills their needs on a deep level.    Plant Spirit Medicine  does not utilize herbs, drugs or remedies of any sort.   The healing medicine comes from the spirit of the plant, and addresses the needs within the spirit of the patient.

In our modern society, we pamper our bodies to no end.   We provide our minds with endless education, entertainment and diversions.   But what do we do for our spirits?   As creatures made up of body, mind and most importantly spirit, if we neglect the needs of our spirit we are neglecting the deepest part of ourselves, and ignoring our most fundamental needs.

Our modern way of life, which expects more and more work from us and leaves us less and less time, has literally squeezed the juice out of our connection to Spirit.  This has become such a ubiquitous epidemic amongst our people that, for the most part, we don’t even realize what is wrong.   We have lost something of great value but very few remember what it is.   Most of us grew up without ever seeing an example of a person that had a vibrant connection to Spirit, which is a prerequisite for good health and a fulfilling life.

This is where the plant spirits have so much to offer.   Plants live in a state of connection to everything around them.  They live in balance with their environment, in deep relationship with the earth that provides their food, the air that they breathe, the sunlight that provides them energy to grow, and the weather spirits that provide them with nourishing rains.  They are intimately connected to the divine natural world, and they willingly share that connection, along with myriads more specific healing blessings.

When a person has an unmet need at a deep level of spirit, and that need is met through the blessings of the plant spirits, a state of balance can be reestablished.  This event brings healing that is profound and mysterious, and which leads to shifts in a person’s life that go beyond addressing physical or mental symptoms.   Those who practice Plant Spirit medicine, and those who receive its blessings, find that this medicine leads one to a joyful and dynamic engagement with one’s purpose and calling in life.

This ancient form of healing, long lost to the dominant society, was rediscovered by Eliot Cowan.   Eliot, an accomplished 5-Element Acupuncturist, combined his deep knowledge of Chinese medicine with the practices of plant shamanism to create a modern healing modality that is true to its ancient roots.

Plant Spirit Medicine was “re-discovered” by Eliot Cowan. He tells the whole story in his book of the same title, “Plant Spirit Medicine”. All plants have healing energies, but some are more easily approached than others. I encourage you to check out the book!
